Three gold inlaid iron tsuba
Edo Period
The first two both Awa Shoami sukashi plates, the larger 18th Century with an elaborate gold numone design of exotic birds perched amid a network of peony karakusa set on a ground containing overlapping openwork medallions, gold plug to one hitsu, (wear), the smaller guard with an openwork design of a military maku above and below which can be viewed an elaborate standard and the branches of a maple tree, all heavily detailed in gold numone one hitsu plugged (wear); the third a 19th Century Sendaimono tsuba with a delicate gold inlay design of Chinese style baby dragons and scrolling clouds (wear).
