    Inscribed on the reverse is 'The House by Century Pass/W.R.Miller/806 Broadway' and 'Sabbath Day Picnik/Lake George/806 Broadway' respectively. Miller painted upstate New York after he emigrated to the United States in 1845; including scenes like these of the Century House in Rosendale, New York and Lake George. The final line of the inscription mentions his studio and residence at 806 Broadway in Manhattan where he lived from 1868-1877.
