Autograph Letter Signed ("John Tyler"), 1¼ pp recto and verso, 4to (conjoining address leaf), Sherwood Forest, March 31, 1859, to Reverend William B. Sprague of Albany, address leaf with repaired seal holes and tipped at all edges to album leaf.
About his failed attempt at securing autographs of the Revolutionary War patriots, Francis L. Lee and R.H. Lee and the intransigence of the University Library. Tyler reflects, "It is astonishing how soon all traces of those who have in their day performed conspicuous parts in the drama of life, pass away."
