WILDER, THORNTON. 1897-1975.
Autograph Letter Signed (Thornton Wilder), 2 pp recto and verso, 8vo, Hamden, CT, November 15, 1961, to Carlton F. Wells, on personal stationery, with original transmittal envelope, leaf lightly toned and creased.
Wilder writes this letter to a professor of English at the University of Michigan. In part: I havent read my interview. Gertrude Stein taught us to shut ourselves off, as far as possible, to what they say about us. / Ive now been the greater part of a week without knowing that I was reported to talk with Olympian jocularity. How right Gertrude was!
