Vanity Fair. London: Bradbury and Evans, 1848. Illustrated with 40 plates, including frontispiece and additional title-page and wood-engravings within text. 8vo (206 x 125 mm). Full red morocco, gilt-ruled, spine gilt in compartments, gilt turn-ins, all edges gilt, by Bayntun (Riviere). Bookplate of Elton Puffer, first two plates with short repaired edge tear, some very pale scattered spotting; finely bound.

First edition, first issue. Without street address on the title page verso, "Mr. Pitt" rather than "Sir Pitt" on page 453; woodcut of the Marquis of Steyne on page 336.
