A 'Mohtasham' Kashan

This beautiful carpet showcases design elements linking it as one of the early examples of 'Mohtasham' carpets. The deep red background with stunning geometrical palmettes, curling blossom vine field, and primitive ivory arabesque corners, with an ivory and indigo blue lobed geometrical medallion. The unusual polychrome Gerus border is highly sophisticated with radiating palmettes and flower sprays.
