A fine Dutch composite atlas, probably compiled by Peter Schenck, hand-coloured engraved frontispiece featuring mythological figures and a globe (Atlas Contractus by Peter Schenck), 120 maps by Schenck, Visscher, de Wit and others (11 folding, the remainder double-page), fine contemporary hand colour, most with decorative title-cartouches, some with letterpress key to place names brightly coloured in green, pink and yellow and pasted on as wings (the green of some of these rotted, and in one case with loss), some browned or spotted, a few lightly dampstained at top margin, map of Holland with short tear at fold, contemporary Dutch vellum, folio (535 x 350mm.), Amsterdam, [c.1705]
