Gold frame, reverse engraved William Michael Banbury (at 6 years) - Eldest Son of Edward and Frances M Branbury - Born Oct. 1884, reverse glazed to reveal cream silk.
Circular, 70mm (2 3/4in) diam.

Footnotes

  • William Michael Victor Banbury (13 October 1884-17 August 1917) was the son of Edward Banbury (1859-1933) and Frances Mary Hall (d.1925). Between 1890-96 he studied at Eton College and then continued his education at University College, Oxford. In 1899 he entered the Coldstream guards where he achieved the rank of Officer. William fought in both the Boer War (1899-1902) and the First World War (1914-18). He gained the rank of Captain in 1914 in the service of the 11th Battalion, Rifle Brigaid William was killed in action on 17 August 1917, age 32.
