A jade buddhist lion group
A fine jade 'Buddhist lion and cub' group
18th century
The large recumbent beast carved and pierced holding a ribbon of a brocade ball in its mouth, its tail and mane finely incised, to the top the small similarly carved cub holds the other end of the ribbon, the stone of opaque green tone with slight russet markings, mainly to the adult's tail.
15.9cm (6¼in) wide.
