1960 Humber Hawk Series IA Saloon 25005727HSO
amended
1960 Humber Hawk Series IA Saloon
Registration no. 1412 WX
Chassis no. 25005727HSO
Engine no. 25005727HSO
After nine years in production the old separate-chassis Humber Hawk was replaced in 1957 by a unitary construction model, the new bodyshell also serving for the revamped Super Snipe. Restyled but retaining American influence, the Hawk kept its predecessor’s rugged 2,267cc overhead-valve four-cylinder engine, the latter being coupled to - usually - a four-speed column change manual gearbox. Overdrive and automatic transmission were options. Development proceeded with only minor changes through Series I to III, the most significant development being the Series II’s front disc brakes, before the model was comprehensively re-styled as the Series IV for 1964.
Finished in two-tone blue over grey with matching pale blue interior, this Humber Hawk Series IA saloon has been in the current owner’s possession for the past 10 years. We are advised that the engine is a reconditioned unit and that the vehicle is in generally very good condition, although the gearbox overdrive is reported as inoperative. Smooth, powerful and said to drive very well, the car is offered with sundry receipts for servicing work, owner’s handbook, current road fund licence, MoT to July 2006 and Swansea V5 registration document.
Estimate:
£1,500 - 2,000
US$ 2,300 - 3,100
€1,800 - 2,300
