Additional note on provenance:
Major-General Sir Justin Sheil, KCB, and thence by descent. After serving in India, Sheil was appointed Secretary of Legation at Tehran in 1836. In 1848 he had conferred on him by the Shah the first class of the Royal Persian Order of the Lion and Sun, in appreciation of his service. From 1844 to 1854 he was Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Shah.
