An early 19th century gold and shell cameo necklace, brooch and earring suite, circa 1830
The necklace composed of five graduating oval shell plaques, carved to depict various mythological scenes including Diana, the Rape of Europa, Jupiter, Hebe and Cupid and Apollo, each within a gold canetille border, to a mesh-link back-chain and shell cameo clasp depicting two doves, together with a shell cameo brooch representing Hebe and Ganymede and a pair of pendent earrings en suite, necklace length 43.5cm., brooch length 4.7cm., earpendent length 6.4cm.
