Two Melanesian bowls
Including a Fiji feast bowl, of elegant oval form, with rounded base and raised tapering canoe-like terminals, the glossy surface showing evidence of extensive use and age; along with an Admiralty Island example, carved in dark wood, raised on four short slab leg supports, the circular vessel carved on the exterior with a decorative rim band and depictions of stylized frigate birds.
