A Solomon Islands figural canoe prow
Depicting a guardian figurehead with high domed crown and smoothly rounded coiffure, having pointed ears, protruding jaw, a pierced septum and parted lips, shallow incisions about the face with faint remains of red pigment, a horseshoe-form base supporting the chin, mother-of-pearl insets in the eyes and to outline the base, earring suspensions of tiny teeth, a vertical bar at back pierced for suspension.
