A Howard Chaykin original artwork for the Star Wars poster
1976, watercolor, gouache and pencil on board, this was the original artwork for the special Star Wars poster released in 1976 for the World Science Fiction convention in Kansas City, only 1000 were printed from this original.
Howard Chaykin was a famed comic illustrator. Born in the early 1950s in Newark NJ, he started his career as an assistant to Gil Kane and then onto Wallace Wood, Gray Marrow and Neal Adams. His best-known works were from the comics Tiome, Blackhawk, and Shadow. He also created American Flagg and Time squared). In 1977, prior to the movies, he created the first Star Wars comic which was highly successful.
