Autograph Letter Signed ("Charles Darwin"), 1 p, 8vo, Kent, March 3, 1880, page creased, toned from old framing, perforation at lower third not affecting text, mounting remnant on verso.

Darwin writes this letter toward the end of his career, as he is working on his final articles, The Power of Movement in Plants (1880) and The formation of vegetable mould, through the acts of worms (1881). In part: "Dear Sir / I am much obliged for your note of the 27th & for your kind present of your essay, which by some accident reached me only this day."
