Footnotes

  • Note:
The paintings in this lot are after works painted by Charles Bird King (1785-1862). King painted a series of portraits of Native American chiefs and warriors who came to Washington, D.C. as delegates to see the President in the 1820s. Lithographs were made from this series of paintings for the book 'History of the Indian Tribes of North America' by Thomas McKenney and James Hall.
