Two netsuke with gilt lacquer inro
Edo Period
Both netsuke displaying very good wear and patina, their accompanying inro both extensively worn: the first an 18th Century ivory study of a seated Sennin resting on an old tree stump, unsigned (old loss), mounted with a four-case inro decorated with a Shinto temple complex; the second a Late 18th/Early 19th Century wood rendering of a fiercely glaring shishi resting on a raised stand, signed []sai rojin to the underside, mounted with a small three-case inro decorated with fruiting vines.
