  • Provenance:
A Northwest estate; an apparent auction review from a British magazine was taped to the back of the present figure. Indicative of the fact that it was written long ago is the following statement: "There were a great many first-class African masks and other carvings in a recent Sotheby sale, when the kind of carving which would have sold for ten pounds or twenty pounds a few years ago surprised the majority of those present by soaring well into three figures."
