A Prussian 1813 Iron Cross 2nd class
Comprising: 1) Iron Cross 2nd class of 1813, in silver with iron core, 39.7 x 39.7 mm, weight 19.3 grams (including ribbon). Stepped Iron core. Silver frame with beading made separately and soldered to flange. 17 mm ribbon ring stitched onto a length of old 38 mm ribbon. Provenance: Graf Klenau auction #64, April 1972; 2) Prototype design for the Iron Cross 2nd class of 1813, a modern copy, as this type was never manufactured; 3) A copy Iron Cross 1st class of 1813, in silver with blackened iron core, with eight attachment loops on reverse. Circa 1960's.
Condition: 1) Fine, the core repainted with black lacquer, hairline crack through core at narrow portion of left cross arm, wear to high points of frame; 2) extremely fine; 3) very fine, with new rust around edges of core at frame.
