Henan Province, China
Oviraptor, meaning “egg robber,” was given its name because a specimen discovered in 1924 on an egg nest was assumed to have been feeding on the eggs. Later, the maligned Oviraptor was understood to be a bird-like egg nurturer, not a thief. The present specimen is a complete, unhatched Oviraptor egg with the characteristic detailed texture of an Oviraptorid shell.
