Walt Disney felt it was time to produce a full-length animation feature film, which would express emotions and would hold the audience for one and a half hours. Colleagues in the film industry thought he was out of his mind. His staff of artists and technicians grew from 187 to 800 and the film that was originally budgeted for $250,000 ending up costing around $2 million. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered on December 21, 1937 and received glowing reviews. More people saw Snow White on its initial release than "Stars Wars". The box office ticket sales earned them $8 million, an enormous sum for 1937.
