Hitchcock shot this in the small quiet community of Bodega Bay, a small fishing village a bit north of San Francisco, where his crew shot trick shots using both trained and fake birds. The terrifying pecking that Tippi Hedren endured in the attic was created by Ub Iwerks animation special effects.
