A good early 19th Century Chinese export fan
The bright gold and black lacquer guards and sticks well-decorated with figures on terraces amid panels of birds, animals and objects, the leaf painted to one side with numerous ivory faced figures arranged on terraces and within defined areas, two horsemen to the fore, within a trellis, objects, animal and floral border, the reverse of the leaf painted with three cartouche panels, two of river scenes, the other a trade port, within brightly coloured objects, leaf scroll flowers and within a formal bird and trellis border.
