- The reference 6238 is called by collectors the "Pre-Daytona". Examples were produced in stainless steel and 14ct and 18ct gold. It was published for the first time in the Rolex catalogue for the Italian market in 1964 and remained until 1967. It is estimated that around 3,600 examples were produced from 1964 to 1967. The above lot was purchased by the current owner in 1967.
