BALLET - BENOIST (ALEXANDRE)
Illustrated autograph letter signed ("Alexandre Benois"), to the ballet critic and historian Cyril Beaumont, in French (upon which he commends Beaumont), apologizing for not answering earlier but explaining that he has been too busy - "C'est le ballet!" - having devoted three months to Raymonde for New York, which he has at last finished, and assuring him that he would have preferred to have fulfilled his request first of all, and thanking him for his book on Giselle ("...un petit chef d'oeuvre..."); the letter headed with a dancing peasant couple (the Peasant Pas de Deux in Giselle) in watercolour over pen-and-ink, 2 pages, 8vo, minor wear at folds but overall in good and attractive condition, Paris, 24 December 1945
