  • Louis Le Breton was a surgeon in the French Navy from 1836-48. During that period and on subsequent trips, he made drawings and watercolour views of noteworthy places, including Sacramento and San Francisco, New Orleans and New York, Rio de Janeiro, sites in Oceania, New Zealand and Africa, as well as this view of Boston.
