Letter signed (“H: Vane”), as the leading member of the Committee for the Public Revenue, also signed Gregory Norton, Edward Howard, Member of the Council of State, John Trenchard and Humphrey Edwards, Regicide, ordering Thomas Fauconbridge, Receiver of the Public Revenue, to pay Richard Keble, one of the Commissioners for the Great Seal, £250 out of his annual salary of £1,000; with the signed receipt by Keble on the verso, witnessed by William Kilburne, 2 pages, folio, Westminster, 11 June 1649

- A fine document signed by the regicide and former Governor of Virginia soon after the execution of Charles I: That the insecure and isolated English Commonwealth of 1649 survived to unify Britain and win international renown owed much to Vane's work. Besides organizing vital supplies and reinforcements for Cromwells victorious campaigns in Ireland and Scotland, Vane managed the fleet that destroyed the royalists squadron, reduced their last territories, defeated the Dutch, and intimidated Englands other neighbours. His competence impressed contemporaries (Ruth E. Mayers in The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography). Richard Keble, the beneficiary of this document, had been appointed one of three Commissioners of the newly-created Commonwealth Great Seal on 8 February 1649. That October he presided over the trial of the Leveller John Lilburne.
