- The author, of Wentworth Terrace, Sheffield, notes that if the book "had been composed principally of extracts from other authors, it would then have been little better than a mechanical arrangement of other men's thoughts; but the present attempt is founded upon experience and observation." The title is unrecorded by Westwood & Satchell, but appears to be the first edition of the author's Temperance Fishing Book. See illustration overleaf.
