The lot comes with a quantity of newspaper cuttings, photographs, general ephemera covering his life with WW1 service, WW2 service with the Bromsgrove Home Guard, and various other events and passings during his lifetime. Worthy of detailed inspection. Most items have been glued to the books. Included is his original MID certificate.
Major James Thomas Bridge began his career as a teacher. In 1910 he was given the headship of Rock School. After his WW1 service he was appointed the first elmentary school in Worcestershire to introduce school meals and the first to be converted into a senior school. Soon after he came to Bromsgrove he took the leading part in forming a local British Legion. In WW2 he was in command of B company, Home Guard and responsible for the defence of Bromsgrove should invasion have come.
