A rare Meissen hausmaler plate
circa 1735-40
painted by Hans Gottlieb von Bressler with a boy on a swing hung between two trees, a putto on the ground beneath him, surrounded by shells and scrollwork in gold and bright colours, the gilt strapwork border containing four panels of flowers and fruits, 21.2cm, crossed swords mark (some patches of wear to the gilding)

  • Han Gottlieb von Bressler was a Silesian nobleman who became Mayor of Breslau in 1766. He decorated porcelain for fun rather than profit, giving examples of his work to his friends and family.
