The Golden Idol is central to the beginning of the first of the Indiana Jones trilogy, when Dr. Henry Jones, played by Harrison Ford, battles through South American jungle and faces various dangers to retrieve the priceless figure from within an ancient tepmple. A number of idols were produced in different materials for the production: that offered here is one of several produced with the required weight for the sequence when Jones replaces it with a bag of dirt.
