A pair of nineteenth century recipe books kept by the St. Vincent family, one labelled on cover "My Mother Lady St. Vincent's old receipt book, containing receipts, prescriptions and useful Household instructions. [?Mary Anne Jervis, Lady] Forester", signed by her mother ("Mary Anne Parker") on front paste-down, the recipes including "To distill snails water", "To make Diet Bread", "To make muffins from the Old Woman's receipt at Buxton" and for making Stilton, together with "My father Viscount St. Vincent's receipt for protecting the feet from being frost bitten" (placing a piece of foot-shaped letter-writing paper in the stocking), index and 186 pages, some receipts with donor's name added, a few pasted in; the second volume labelled "Old Receipts sent to Meaford from Park Hall... 1856 ", 42 pages, contemporary reversed calf, 4to, [c.1810-1890]
