    He was born on 8th August 1804 at Wickham Market at Suffolk. Second Lieutenant 22.6.1826; Lieutenant 13.11.1831; 2nd Captain 1.5.1843; Major Brevet 28.7.1943; 1st Captain 26.1.1847; Lieutenant Colonel 28.11.1854.

    On the service sheet the section List and Dates of any Battles reads as follows: "Served as British Commissioner at the Head Quarters of the Spanish Army 1837 to 1840, was present at the Storming of Trun 16th & 17th May 1837. Action of Cuedovin 29 May 1837. Battle of Retuerta 5th Oct 1837. Battle of Huerta-del-Rey 14th Oct 1837. Lines of Medianas 30 Jany 1838. Battle of Penacerrada 20 June 1838. Action of Romales 8 May 1839. Action of Guardamino 11 May 1839. Attack and Capture of Morella from 19th to 30th May 1840. Attack and Capture of Berga in Catoleena 4 July 1840.

    Titles, Honorary Distinctions and Medals obtained reads as follows: Medal and Order of St.Fernando for Storming of Trun. Order of Isabella the Catholic for action of Medinas. Commander of do- for Panacerrada. 1st Class Order of Charles IIIrd for action of Valladolid. Medal for taking of Morella 2nd Class Charles IIIrd 13th June 1843.

    He served a total of 9 years 280 days in the UK with postings to Chatham, Portsmouth and Woolwich. His overseas service included 6 years 227 days in Spain, 1 year 347 days in Prussia and 132 days in Portugal. Total service being 24 years 50 days. He retired on full pay on 11.11.1850 and died on 12.11.1878.

    His sister was his only next of kin and included with this lot is a receipt dated December 1890 by A.D.Loewenstark who produced the display case.
