Footnotes

  • The design for the 'Ixe' stool (New ref. 483) held in the collection of the Musee des Annees 30 is for a higher version of the stool. A similar lower slung model is illustrated in a contemporary photograph of a 'transitional interior'reproduced in Emmanuel Breon 'Jaques Emile Ruhlmann, Furniture', Editions Flammarion (2004) pages 82/83. The 'Ixe' stool was known to be part of the Viville Yardley commission (1924) with the addition of a beaded frieze. A pair of stools from this commission now form part of the collection of the Toledo Museum of Fine Art along with eight other pieces of furniture from the showroom which were purchased from Jacques Kugel in 1970 after Kugel bought the Yardley premises at 279 Faubourg St.Honore
