Lot Details
1931 Citroen C4 1,628cc Tourer
Registration no. DSJ 610
Chassis no. 108479
Engine no. E05725
Citroen announced the C4 in September 1928, an all-new four-cylinder model rated at 13/30hp and destined to replace the hugely successful 12/24hp model alongside which it was originally built. It was conventional in all respects with a sturdy, side-valve engine, driving through a three-speed gearbox, semi-elliptic suspension all round and was offered in saloon or tourer form. A 55mph top speed was claimed with 25mpg economy. Citroen build quality was undoubted, benefiting from the most sophisticated mass production techniques, and once their normal duties had expired many cars found themselves pressed into service as utility vehicles on French farms/small-holdings. This was probably the fate of this car which was rescued from France for preservation with much of the original coachwork missing. Extensive restoration has been carried out and the vehicle was running and MoT’d in 1997. New rear wings have been made and new (expensive) tyres sourced and fitted. Much straightforward work remains to be completed and will be handsomely rewarded. This project is sold as viewed and comes with a Swansea V5 registration document.
