Triumph introduced the Model Q as a De Luxe version of the budget-priced Model P, introduced for the 1925 range at a price of £42. The first batch of 20,000 or so Model P’s sold well but needed mechanical refinement and an improved Mark II version, offering a top speed of 55mph, appeared later in that year. The Model Q is that version featuring a light alloy (instead of cast iron) piston, modified exhaust system and additional plating. Production of the Model P and its Q, QA, N and N De Luxe variants was to continue until 1929.

This comparatively rare Model Q was acquired for the Montagu Motor Museum in July 1956 for just £38. It features electric lighting, Smiths 0-80mph speedometer, drum front brake, dummy belt rim rear braking, chain drive, a leather tool pannier and fishtail exhaust. It is correctly liveried in Triumph’s familiar grey/green with black frame and mudguards and black/nickel plated wheel rims. Condition reflects an older restoration which will we feel respond to sympathetic cosmetic improvement and following a period in museum care we suggest careful recommissioning before active use. This practical and most rideable vintage machine is offered with a Swansea V5 registration document.
