A collection of six late 18th/early 19th Century oval gold fob seals, all relating to the same family,

of varying sizes, comprising:- a late 18th Century French two-colour gold seal, struck with two marks, bearing two armorial shields accollée beneath a coronet, two gold seals circa 1800, one with armorial shield and motto scroll below a coronet, the other with crest of a winged heart above a strap and buckle cartouche with motto "All for religion" enclosing initials "ML", two smaller gold seals with armorial shield with coronet above, one of these a lady's armorial in a lozenge, and a large spirally fluted, gold cased carnelian seal with intaglio armorial shield, motto scroll, crest and coronet, circa 1820. Footnotes

  • The arms are for Langton of Co. Kilkenny, Ireland and of Cadiz, Spain. Nicholas Langton of Danganmore, Co. Kilkenny, died at Cadiz, in 1779. The accollée arms on one of the seals are Dillon, an Irish viscounty created in 1622 and Langton beneath a Spanish marquis's coronet.
