The Book of Common Prayer, title within typographical border, contemporary Irish binding, red morocco, richly tooled in gilt with leafy sprays, flowers and birds, lozenge-shaped central inlay of blue and fawn morocco inlays, rebacked in gilt, corners rubbed, ownership inscriptions on front free endpapers pasted together, g.e., 8vo, Cambridge, J. Baskerville, 1761

  • The earliest ownership inscription reads "The gift of Lady Cox Relict of the late Sir Rich'd Cox Bart, to William Pratt. Febry 7th 1766." For other Irish bindings owned by Cox see plates 42 and 48 in Irish Book Bindings, 1600-1800 by Maurice Craig. William Pratt was the Dean of Cloyne, and vicar of Christ Church, Cork.
