TOLKIEN (J.R.R.)
Typed letter signed ("JRR Tolkien"), to Mr Elliott Howard, thanking him for his most interesting letter "about your adventures all over the world with The Lord of the Rings ("...You must undoubtedly be one of my best publicity agents..."), and hoping that he likes Farmer Giles, the drawings for which he thinks are even better than those in Tom Bombadil; adding in a autograph postscript: "Too brief to express my pleasure in your remarkable letter, but I am very hard-pressed - and as reluctant to work as a dormouse prematurely wakened JRR.R", one page, 4to, light time-staining, sold with copies fifth and sixth impressions of the last two volumes of The Lord of the Rings, Headington, 12 February 1963
