This model was the most expensive timepiece that Lalique produced and only around thirty are known to exist today. The present version, in deep blue glass, is the rarest. The design shows the extent of Lalique's skill in working the properties of the glass - the way the glass is moulded in intaglio and in bas-relief respectively gives each figure the light and the darkness of the Day and the Night which they represent
