GEE WIZZ. A Chris Craft Rocket Sportsboat
Built by Chris Craft, Michigan in 1953 and imported by Arthur Bray, the sole importer, for display at the Boat Show that year. Constructed of seam battened Phillipine mahogany to the chine, planked fore and aft outside and diagonal inside, varnished to the waterline and painted below.
Engine: Hercules KBL six cylinder 4.5 litre racing engine No. 62489. This original engine received a total rebuild to Chris Craft specification in 1997, using original parts, triple carburettors, starter motor, gearbox and dynamo also rebuilt, with a new wiring loom installed. Instrumentation includes ammeter, oil pressure gauge, revolution counter.
General arrangement: Foredeck with Chris Craft chrome fairleads and fittings, split windscreen to forward cockpit with upholstered bench seat and wheel steering to starboard. Small bridge deck to second cockpit with bench seat, aft deck with lifting covers to engine compartment. Chris Craft rubber tread plates, ventilators and ensign staff. Includes a road trailer.
