designed by Graham Tongue, never allocated a shape number and probably the only Beswick model not to be allocated a shape number, a very rare Beswick model, one of only four ever produced with special commemorative inscription to base: 'One of three replicas of Spirit of Whitfield. The original was presented to H.R.H. The Princess Royal on the occasion of her visit to Chatterly Whitfield Mining Museum to open the new Pit on October 13th 1987. This model, one of only four cast, was sculpted by Graham Tongue, chief designer of the John Beswick studio of Royal Doulton. It is based on 'Kruger' the last pit pony to work at the colliery, who retired in 1931.', satin matt finish, together with a commemorative plaque giving information about the piece, (2)
