A John Bevington figure of a flower vendor
Circa 1880, modelled in the Dresden style as a boy standing before a tree, he wears brightly patterned 18th Century style clothes and holds a basket of flowers in one hand and a sprig in the other, set on a circular base moulded with scrolls picked out in pink and gilt,
17cm, blue painted mark (minor chips to foliage in basket).

  • John Bevington established a pottery in 1860 in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, settling at the Kensington Works on St.James Street in 1872 where he made a range of good quality decorative wares, often inspired by Meissen and other earlier Dresden porcelain.
