Footnotes

  • Provenance: Formerly Kelikian Collection.

There are numbers of lampas panels known with an ogival trellis. These include the Nasser D. Khalili Collection (J.M. Rogers, Empire of the Sultans: Ottoman Art from the Collection of Nasser D. Khalili, London, 1995, no. 138), and the Keir Collection (Friedrich Spuhler, Islamic Carpets and Textiles in the Keir Collection, London, 1978, nos. 125, 126 and 127). None of these include pomegranates as part of the design. The scale motif is parallelled on a green ground lampas panel also in the Keir Collection (Spuhler, op cit, no. 127).
