Footnotes

  • Prince William II of Orange, married in 1677, Mary Stuart, the Princess Royal. In 1689, they were proclaimed joint sovereigns of England, and after Mary's death in 1694, William ruled alone. In February 1702 William was riding at Hampton Court when his horse stumbled on a mole hill and threw him, breaking his collar bone, which led to his death.
