The group of miniature medals awarded Lieutenant Colonel C.E.Bruce, Indian Political Department, late 24th Baluchistan Regiment and 20th Lancashire Fusiliers,
Lieutenant Colonel Charles Edward Bruce was born on 23.3.1876, he was educated at Wellington and RMC Sandhurst. He joined the 20th Lancashire Fusiliers in 1896, and transferred to the 24th Baluchistan Regiment in 1897. He joined the Indian Political Department in 1901. He saw service in China in 1900 and served on the North West Frontier in 1902 with operations against the Darwesh Khel Wazirs. He was M.I.D. twice during WW1 and was awarded the O.B.E. for war service. He served in Afghanistan in 1919 and was M.I.D. and awarded the C.I.E.. He then went on to Waziristan and was M.I.D. twice and later awarded C.B.E. and C.S.I.. He retired in 1931. He wrote Waziristan 1936-37 and others on various tribes along the N.W.Frontier of India.
