Footnotes

  • One of the greatest architectural works ever produced, for which the Adam brothers commissioned the finest artists and engravers including Bartolozzi, Piranesi, Pastorini and Cunego. Their major domestic commissions - Kenwood, Sion, Luton Hoo, and the London houses of Lord Shelburne and Sir W. W. Wynn - are represented in fine architectural views, alongside interiors, furnishing and decorative details. The work was instrumental in spreading the Adam style in Britain and Europe.
