A Builder's Model of the MV ASTRONOMER 1951
Built to a scale of 1:96. Solid hull with four blade brass propeller, painted black to the waterline and maroon below with a brown boot top and decks. White gunwale, rails and superstructure with accommodation ladder slung out to starboard. Painted draft marks at bow and stern with Plimsol line amidships and brass portlights. Fine details include anchors, cables and winches, ventilators and bell, cargo hatches with derricks and winches. Central superstructure with open flying bridge and bridge wings, fitted with binnacle, DF loop aerial and telegraph. Ship's boats on davits flank the single funnel painted in Harrison livery, with whistle. Poop with emergency steering position, fitted with wheel, binnacle and telegraph. Bridge and poop fitted with tropical awing supports. Mounted on posts with an ivorine Builder's plaque from William Doxford & Sons Ltd.
